We have been off to an awesome start down here in Antigua, Guatemala. The first day we arrived we ate at pizza hut and then headed to our host families to unpack and hangout! Yesterday, which was our second day, we got a tour of the beautiful Dreamer Center here at the nuestros ahhijados *Gods Child, headed to the casa jackson *which is a malnutrition center for babies who have been underfed growing up. and then we headed to the Scheels school which was actually named after Scheels the sports store because of a very generous donation they had given. The Scheels school is for guatemalan teenagers who need to be in a first grade classroom setting but it is so they do not have to be with actual first graders, thus they feel more comfortable and they stay in school. We headed off to the coffee plantation afterwards and went ziplining! ziplining is where you get connected to a harness and fly literally thousands of feet above land and tree tops through mountains! It is absolutely incredible and truly shows the image of our Creator. Lastnight we went downtown to Monoloco which in spanish means crazy monkey, and we ate desert!! Today we have split into two groups one to go to an hour away for a malnutrition center where students are holding babies, kids, and playing with kids who are very very malnourished and very in need of love. The other half stayed here at the Dreamer Center and have been in and out of classrooms all morning!
It is cool to be here and be Jesus's hands and feet! It is much different from evangelism especially with the language barrier but we know that God is working out ALL things for the good because he loves us and he loves these people. Please continue praying for our mission and check back soon for more updates!
Hasta Luego,
Kayla Wiese and Charity Team!
